KAYUNGA: Rajiv Ruparelia Rally Team makes an impressive win in their first participation in the federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) 2019 Autocross event in Kayunga on Sunday 23, that left people revelers in shock of a dust all through with a competitive event rallying.
The autocross rally Dubbed “FMU Autocross Championship Round 3 – 2019”, the 23rd June, 2019 rally was held at Kayunga Primary School, 15km from Shell Kayunga.
Driving a powerful VW Polo Proto, the Double Trouble team finished in the number one position after posting the second fastest time over various runs around the place at a time of 05:18.5miniutes.
Ponsiano Lwakataka and his co-driver Samuel Mugisha in their Subaru Impreza finished in the second place but they indeed put up a spirited fight but could not match the speed of a VW POLO Double Trouble.
Ronald Sebuguzi and his navigator Leon Senyange came third in their Mitsubishi Evo X.
Arthur Blick Jnr and George Semakula in their Mitsubishi Evo were in the fourth place while Jonas Kansiime and his navigator Ivan Tushabe came fifth in their Mitsubishi Evo Iiv.
Rajiv Ruparelia said with this powerful wagon VW POLO he looks forward to winning more races ahead and making the motor sport game more meaningful with life and money.
“It was really a nice experience for us. We were a good team, disciplined and we respected the car and it really behaved well.
Our performance prepared us for future and am sure we can do in future events. We learnt a lot. We shall take it easy and focus on finishing rallies no words we only need actions.
I only got to sit in the car yesterday. I believe the second position is good enough for our debut. We look forward to the next autocross event,” Rajiv told reporters after putting up an impressive win in the first position in Kayunga.
“As management of Rajiv Ruparelia Rally Team, and hope to do more training once all our spares come in and get the car fixed. We plan to take on Safari this year if all goes well,” Rajiv added.
Rajiv adds that this was a completely new experience for me and the Rally Team I didn’t expect it to be this fun. I have learnt lessons and still learning Ugandan expect the best from this side of ours the machine is powerful we only focus on safety issues of our lives and the community we entertain.
“I know for the fact that we shall have a lot of fun in the near future once we get used to everything that goes around with motor sport industry” said Rajiv.
Rajiv Ruparelia before joining motor sport received specialized training at the Rally star Motorsport Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Rajiv and his team managed by Dipu Ruparelia will now focus attention to the upcoming Pearl of Africa rally under the Federation of Motor Sport in Uganda (FMU).
In his May debut rally, Rajiv, a new entrant in Uganda’s Motorsport, finished an impressive second after clocking a time of 10:44 in the Enduro Autocross Championship 2019 at Zion Estates in Ssisa.
